DIY: Two-Toned Flats
Sorry for not being online a lot lately. I’m back in Manila and busy cleaning the house. It’s the new year after all, I have to have a ‘fresh’ start. I successfully purged my closet of almost half of my clothes (now, I have more room for new clothes!) and sorted old papers from school. Ah my book shelf looks neat now.
In between cleaning times, I did a DIY on my old pair of grey flats. I only wore them a few times because even though it was my size, prolonged usage made my feet hurt because the garter is so tight. Now I braved it and cut the garter. Still a little bit tight, but a lot more comfortable now. Not only that, I painted it a whole new color:

What you’ll need:
- An old pair of flats that you don’t mind being thrown away if the DIY goes wrong.
- 2 different colors of acrylic paints
- a thin small brush
- a bigger brush
- a palette for squeezing your colors on (a piece of plastic will do, even a piece of paper)
- sticky tape
- scissors/cutter

Step 1: Mark the demarcation of your flats with sticky tape.

Step 2: Squeeze your color of choice onto the palette.

5. With the big brush, paint one side and let it dry. To save time, you can already remove the sticky tape and paint the other side with another color. Make sure you clean your brush first if you’re using the same brush. Be careful not to paint over the other side.
6. When it’s dry, paint again with the smaller brush, this time paying attention to detail like strokes and evenness of your painting. Let dry.

7. Optional: Spray with clear acrylic for a glossy finish.
ET VOILA! Your very own two-toned flats!!!

Is it cute or what? If you’re gonna paint your shoes too, post a link. I’d love to see what creative design you’ve thought of.
P.S. I suck at instructions, yes? <3
